Grants Resource Center: External Funding Conference

August 22-25, 2010 • Sofitel Hotel, Washington, DC 20005

Recovery through Sponsored Programs

The 2009 stimulus package fervor has died down, but higher education budgets have yet to recover. Competition for private and federal support - from longstanding programs, remaining Recovery Act allocations, and new funding streams - is increasing as institutions nationwide grow both savvier and more anxious about securing grants and contracts support.

The Grants Resource Center 2010 External Funding Conference will engage attendees in a variety of activities to increase effective grantseeking efforts across the institution:

  1. Face-to-face, one-to-one meetings with dozens of the federal program officers who manage grant competitions and review processes;

  2. More than 30 sessions on agency priorities, and federal and private funding opportunities;

  3. Strategies for integrating research and sponsored programs with the institutional mission, and increasing the volume of successful grant applications; and

  4. Solutions to administrative and faculty development challenges within the institution and among its regional partners.

Since 1967, the Grants Resource Center has linked member institutions with funders. This role has never been more important than it is today, when agencies and applicants alike are tasked with achieving, then widely disseminating, transformational results on reduced budgets. That challenge is central to this year's External Funding Conference.
